I bow to the blessed Mahāvīra, who has mastered the difficult to defeat armies of infatuation and aversion,
master yogi of yogis, most brave and perfect,
protector of those who seek protection in spirit.
Mahāvīra, born in 599 B.C., is the twenty-fourth Jain Prophet, a paragon of courage and compassion, whose Teachings form the basis of Jainism.
