________________ хуі INTRODUCTION lent knowledge and understanding of the Navya-Nyaya techniques and methodology. He was a pupil of Gunaratnasuri, the author of Saddarsanasamuccayatika. Then we have Gunaratnagani, the author of Tarkatarangini and Sukhabodhika Tippanika on Tattvacintamani, who belongs to the sixteenth century A.D. And at last in the chronological order comes the famous Upadhyaya Yasovijaya. He, an eighteenth century philosopher-monk of the Jaina tradition, was a great scholar of Navya-Nyaya. His works like Nyayakhandakhadya and Nyayaloka which are written in Navya-Nyaya style display very high level of scholarship We conclude that by writing Tarkatarangini and Sukhabodhika Tippanika our author Gunaratnagani has secured an important place among the learned NavyaNyaya authors in general and the Jaina Navya-Nyaya authors in particular. It is my pleasant duty to express my sincere gratefulness to the management of the B.L. Institute of Indology for providing me an opportunity to edit Gunaratnagani's Sukhabodhika Tippanika on Gangesa's Tattvacintamani. Nagin J. Shah 23, Valkeshvar Society, Ambawadi, Ahmedabad-380015.
