ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
In the very outset I remember my teacher Prof. V. S. Pathak to whom I shall ever remain indebted. He has always been a source of knowledge and inspiration to me from whom, as an uncared surrogate, I derived strength and vitality whenever needed. I have always been yearning for his blessings which have been granted to me not much less than others. The present work is a material efflorescence of his spiritual seeds. I wish to remain down to his feet.
My elder brother Prof. V. B. Rao graciousaly played the role of my Guru without whose affection and indulgence the present work could not have seen the light of the day. His friendly touch courteous behaviour and matured intellectual suggestions have not only bolstered my courage but has also given me the strength to survive by worldly ordeals in direct or rebound manners. Words are failing to express my gratitude to him.
I feel deeply indebted to Prof. Shail nath Chaturvedi who was my teacher in the true sense of the term. Though later I happened to be his colleague, but his elderly affections and inspirations have gone a long way in shaping my intellectural personality.
I am highly indebted to Prof. Mata Prasad Tripathi who has cooperated with me at every step and has always been encouraging me to get the work completed and published as soon as posible. I express my high senge of gratitude to him.
Dr. Ram Pyare Mishra, my old student and presently working as part-time lecturer in the Dept. has rendered great help to me by undertaking the task of proofreading and getting the typing errors corrected. I express my gratitude to him.
And, lastly, I express my all gratitude to one whose name has led us to worship Saraswati, who, being my Dharmachari, has always
