ion). He was a great builder and many a Jain temple in Kathiawad and Rajputana are of his creation. He was fond of the society of leamed men and enjoyed hearing their discourses. He founded 21 libraries and had copied hundreds of old manuscripts and scrolls. He was without doubt, a perfect model of Jain purity and piety.'
The Rathors of Hathundi (Rajputana) were a ruling clan during the 10ch century A. D. King Vidgdharaj (916 A. D.) of these Rathors was a Jain. He built a temple of Rishabhadeva at Hathundi and at the request of Shvetambara Muni Balbhadra made a gift of land to it. His son Mammata also made a grant for this temple. Mammata's son Dhavala was a great king. Althouth he was a Jain and his spirit of Ahimsa highly developed, yet so imbued Was he with the desire to give protection to the weak that he was always ready to help the needy and oppressed. He fought for Mewad in order to rescue it from the attack of Munja. Likewise when the Chauhan King Mahendra of Nadol approached him for help, he waged war against Durlabhraj, and saved him from ruin.
