________________ Chapter V Subject: The Soul can be Liberated 2 (a) The Disciple's Doubt S कर्ता भोक्ता जीव हो, पण तेनो नहि मोक्ष । वीत्यो काळ अनंत पण, वर्तमान छे दोष ॥८७॥ Kartta bhokta jive ho, pana teno nahi moksha; Vityo kala ananta pana, vartamana chhe dosha. 87 The Soul may bind and get the fruit, But never can it get the freedon, Infinite time has passed, the rootOf birth and death is not undone. 87 The disciple is now convinced of the truth of the third and the fourth propositions namely that the soul is the author of its actions and it has to enjoy or suffer the fruits thereof. He further doubts the truth of the fifth porposition namely that the soul can be liberated. The disciple is convinced by his Guru's arguments and proofs that the Soul owns actions and enjoys or suffers the fruits thereof. But he has doubts about the Soul's liberation. He argues - I admit that the Soul does actions and enjoys or suffers the fruits thereof. But how can I admit that the Soul can be liberated or that it can be absolutely freed from the bondage of actions? The Soul has gone on doing actions in its endless past, therefore it was bound during its long history. Even in the present it follows its age-old habit of doing actions.
