Gonda's Concise Elementary Grammar of the Sanskrit Language was translated from its original German for use in a Sanskrit class "designed primarily for linguists who wish to acquire a knowledge of Sanskrit grammar as rapidly as possible. Professor Gonda's book is ideal for this purpose. The grammar is presented in a clear and thorough way and is accompanied by twenty useful translation exercises. In addition, there are thirteen well chosen reading selections and a Sanskrit-English glossary containing every word which occurs in the translation exercises and reading selections."
