Dhadha's Haveli,
Ajmer,
July 25, 1937. Respected Swamiji,
Pranāmas. I owe you an apology for not being able to acknowledge earlier your kind letter dated 15th July 1937.
I have had an occasion to study carefully the inscriptions on the Mathura Lion capital. In the Indore Archaeological museum, where I worked as the curator for three years, an excellent plaster-of-paris cast of the original capital in the British museum is exhibited. Besides studying the inscriptions from the cast I have also consulted the excellent readings of the inscriptions edited by Dr. Sten konow.........
I would like to assure your goodself that in the inscriptions engraved on the capital there is no mention whatever of Nahapana, and that the records have no connection with the Jains. So far as the relationship between Bhumaka and Nahapallil is concerned, I feel that nothing can be pointed out definitely at this stage.............
I shall always feel it a pleasure if I am of any service to you. My father has desired me to convey his respects to your honour,
With deep regards,
Yours obediently, RAMESWAR G. OJHA.
