The late Dr. Das Gupta, Professor of Sanskrit and Comparative Religions, Sanskrit college, Calcutta has expressed this view in his learned writings. This view will be found correct if only we compare some of the Jaina ancient scriptures with those of Hinduism.
The ancient culture of Tamilnād is rooted on Jainism is an historical truth which can not be controverted by any one who has properly studied the religious history of India. The foundations of Indian culture are: Ahimsā, Karunā and MaitrīNon-violence, Compassion and Universal benevolence-originally expounded by Bhagavān Rşabha father of human culture and civilization. Tamilnād had been a notable centre of Rsabha Dharma from time immemorial.
