The Principle of ANEKANT advocates approach of relativity in thinking and doctrine of manifold aspects of Truth is multifaceted as seen by individuals and communities in differing circumstances, environment and experiences. Intolerance and hostility is generated when one regards his version of truth as absolute. ANEKANT approach advocates peaceful coexistence among different interpretations of truth. A very simple example is a person is a son to someone, but a father or uncle or husband to others.
To promote durable understanding, it is essential to harmonize related interpretations of facts, situations and events. Indeed the modern theory of Relativity' is based on the same assumptions as the doctrine of Anekant. Anekant approach can build synthesis and cooperation in place of hostility and conflict.
The philosophy of Anekant is highly relevant in modern times - when political, ideological, economic, social and religious fanaticism and intolerance are destroying civilisational values and the fabric of stable peace and harmony.
