________________ 74 Law of Karma ... indivisible, eternal, all-pervading and self-conscious. It is a part and parcel of God. In other words, it is Godhead within min. It is this belief of Gandhiji which made him hate the sin, and not the sinner. For Gandhiji, “The individual is the one Supreme consideration.''11 In fact, the reality in man is nothing but soul. Gandhiji's belief in Advaita doctrine that there is but one Brahman in all whether it be human or sub-human beings, means that all living beings are bound together inseparably to God. "It makes man the servant of God's creation and not its lord."12 It also means that whatever happens to one body, must affect the whole of matter and the whole spirit. This is why Gandhiji believes that if one man gains spirituality, the who world gains with him and if one man falls, the whole world falls with him to that extent. The physical man draws the sense here and there. But this aspect of man is unreal. That in regard to which our consciousness never fails is real but that in regard to which our consciousness fails is unreal. According to Dr. Radhakrishpan, the unreal is the body and the real is the soul. We may here quote the verse of Bhagavadgitā as follows : antavanta ime dehā, nityasyo ktūḥ saririnaḥ anāśino prameyasya tasmad yudhyasva bhārata.1.3 The soul is never born, nor does it die at any time. It is unborn, eternal, permanent. It is not slain, but the body is slain. na jayate mriyate Vâ kadacin nā' ya bhulvā bhavitā vā na bhūyah ajo nityaḥ śāśvato yam purino na hanyate hanyamāne sarire.14 Gandhiji, under the influence of Gītā, believed that eternal soul does not move from place to place but the embodied man moves from one place to another.
