1. The tan powers of the Tachágata, p. 224. The word Dasabala is a specific name of Buddha, and Dr. Wilson, following a Hindu etyunologist, explains it to mean "powerful in the ten worlds ;" but this passage shows clearly that the interpretation is not correct. The powers meant are (1) charity, (2) good conduct, (8) forbearance, (4) vigour, or deterinination, (6) meditation, (6) intelligence, (7) power, (s) knowledige of means, (9) contemplation, and (19) transcondentnl kuowledge.
