________________ Education articles Education Student goes to Dental College Hard work pays off as Sayla student excels in his studies and is rewarded with a place at Dental College. A shy yet very bright young Sandip Mithapara from Anpar Village excelled in his studies and extra-curricular activities to win Prem ni Parab 'Best Pupil Award in 2006 when he was in Standard 6 at Sayla Primary School No. 5. The award opened many opportunities for him, the first being to participate in an International Student Seminar in Mauritius where his team returned with the 'Best Team' Award. His enthusiasm and drive motivated him through High School. In March 2012 he passed his Standard 12 exams and was awarded a place to study BDS Dentistry at College, a mighty achievement for a young student from a humble background. Rooted in the environment Trees planted in all Sayla district school. Vocational training: sewing classes Students are taught the importance of environmental conservation. Trees have been planted and maintained by students in all schools across Sayla. Preventative measures against global warming are part of the curriculum The educational initiatives of the Ashram extend to adults as well. Ladies from Sayla and its neighbouring villages are taught certificate sewing courses free of charge. Each course has 30 students and lasts 6 months. Putting ethics at the heart of education speeches, presentations, and two book launches Raj Saubhag Ashram hosts two day conference on ethics in the education system. Chandrakantbhai Vyas, director of the Ashram's "Prem ni Parab" initiative stressed the importance and responsibility of teachers, as role-models for children in their early years. In the past 12 years approximately 750 women have been trained. Ashram members have often individually gifted sewing machines to students, empowering the women and providing them with a platform for economic self-sufficiency. In the midst of monsoon season, in September 2011 Raj Saubhag Ashram was host to 200 leading educationalists from across Gujarat. For two intense days they explored ways of developing education at the grass-root level to encourage children to become moral and upright citizens of the country. Acknowledging how difficult it is to make such changes within schools, Pujya Bhaishree inspired all participants by referring to Gandhiji's philosophy, and inviting everyone to work together to bring about changes with a gentle hand. વિખર્શ This "Education Brainstorming Conference was energised by the experience, insights and ideas of a diverse and passionate group that included academics, policy-makers, teachers, and students.
