________________ Devendra Yashwant: Divine Vision To Sanjaya - An Illusion In slokas 42 to 44 of chapter 29 of Salyaparva Sanjaya narrates that on covering the distance of one kośa he saw wounded Duryodhana with his mace. On seeing me there were tears in his eyes. He was in pitiable condition. Seeing Duryodhana in grief, I could not speak for a long time. "krośamātramapakrāntaṁ gadāpānim avasthitam, ekam Duryodhanaṁ rājannapaśyam bhṛśavikṣataṁ. sa tu mamaśrupūrṇākṣo nāśaknodabhivīkṣitum, upapraikṣata māṁ dṛṣṭvā tathā dīnam avasthitam. tam caham api śocantam drtstvaikāinamāhave, muhurtam nāśakaṁ vaktum atiduḥkhapariplutaḥ. 49 In the 45th to 48th śloka of chapter 29 of the Salyaparva Sanjaya tells Dṛtaraṣṭra that he narrated to Duryodhana about his being alive on account of the grace of Vedavyāsa. Duryodhana asked him about his brothers and his forces. Sanjaya told Dṛtarastra that he told Duryodhana the events as seen by him. He also told Duryodhana that his whole army has been massacred. He also told him that according to Vedavyasa only three of his chariteers were alive. tato asmai tadaham sarvamuktvān grahaṇaṁ tadā, Dvaipayanaprasādācca jīvato mokṣamāhave. sa muhurtam iva dhyātvā pratilabhya ca cetanām, bhrātṛśca sarvasainyāni paryapṛcchata mām tataḥ. tasmai tadaham ackṣe sarvam pratyakṣadarsivān, bhrātṛśca nihatan sarvān sainyaṁ ca vinipātitam. trayaḥ kila rathāḥ śiṣṭāstāvakānāṁ narādhipa, iti prasthānakāle māṁ Kṛṣṇadvaipayano abravit. In the 53rd sloka of chapter 29 of Salyaparva Sanjaya told Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Duryodhana had advised him to tell you Sir that your son being badly wounded all over the body has entered the pond.
