Avidyā is the common principle of bondage, so knowledge is essential for mukti. The karma-phenomenology of the Jainas is the outcome of their realistic and externalistic approach. Constitutional freedom of the Soul is a logical necessity. This is simple satkaryavāda. Unless the Soul has got some potentiality, how can it manifest ? 56 T. M. P.
