________________ OCTOBER, 1978 The višeşa (special) in relation to fine tract is multiplied by two geometric regressions to yield the first tract fluent. When the multiple is reduced one by one till the fine tract less one, then the final tract is produced. from Arthasamdr sti of Labdhisāra, p. 161 Appendix B Nisus Structure according to life-time : Triangular symbols are vertical A4 Ka ATi 11 Ks Pa Ka-An Ko 2 Ja A 15 2 3 Ni Ari Ko2 Ja Ni 15 wūt 1 The process of downtraction of fluent : The figure shows a decreasing sequence of the nisusus relative to ultimate particles. There are three divisions : (i) minimum injection (jaghanya nikṣepa), (ii) minimum overinstallation (jaghanya atisthāpana) and (iii) input nisus. Symbol of avali (trail) is 16, from which 15 is obtained by subtracting 1 and when its one-third part is increased by unity it becomes (i). The two-third part is (ii). Above (i) is the input nisus. Above are the other divisions of downtraction, gaps being shown by zero. 2 The lowest portion of the maximum injected, over installation is the time-lag trail denoted by A 4, above which is the maximum injected fluent, and above it is overinstallation fluent and still above is the final nisus. There is no nisus structure in time-lag trail, hence it is denoted by a vertical line. In overinstallation, 4 is the trail, thence the life-stay of karma in the maximum injected is Ka, then symbol for nisus is-, and the diminished amount is two trails increased by an instant, becoming 42: Then the input (absorbed) nisus is written above as 1.
