________________ CULTURAL PROGRAM, JULY 5, 1997, " Jainism in Practice...the New Age" is the theme of this year's convention. The Cultural Program Committee is looking for groups to perform. The committee will endeavor to accommodate your event as long as it reflects the theme of the convention. • Stand up comedy • Raas 1 item only, please. Skit or play on Jainism • Rajasthani Garba Vegan Fashion Show Dance Drama. or any other related item. • Each item should be a maximum of 8 minutes. • Skits, dance dramas and fashion show should be a maximum of 15 minutes. • The Cultural Program will be 2 1/2 hours in total. Therefore, there will be a limit of two items per city. • All entries will be approved and judged by a panel. • The deadline to confirm your entry is April 15, 1997 Please submit the details of your proposed cultural item or a video of a previous performance, if possible to: Ashwin Vora, 43 Whiteway Court, Scarborough, Ontario, M1B 5L9, Canada - phone/fax 416-283-8846. ESSAY WRITING Young people are encouraged to submit an essay on Jainism in Practice...the New Age, the theme of this year's convention. The deadline for all entries is April 30, 1997. Group 1: Grades 9-12, a minimum of 1,000 words, Group 2: College aged young adults, a minimum of 2,000 words. NEWSLETTER COMPETITION Entries are invited from all Jain organizations for the newsletter competition. For the competition, please select a newsletter that has been published within the last six months. Only one entry is allowed per organization. The newsletter will be judged for its content, presentation and effectiveness in promoting Jainism. The deadline for submitting newsletters May 16, 1997. All entries should be mailed to: Harish C. All Jain young people are invited to participate in this event. The rules for the competition are: each team must consist of four members; the maximum age of any team member is 21. For those centers with a serious interest in participating in this event an information packet, registration form, requirements, and sample questions is available. The official registration must be completely filled out in order to confirm your registration.
