________________ TIRTHANKARA IDOLS UNEARTHED IN GUJARAT Saradabad, GR. Five Tirthankara idols belonging to 15th to 18th century were recently unearthed from deep burried mud tank in Saradabad district while deepening the tank for deeper water table. The idols carry inscriptions and the biggest one measures less than 12 cms high. The Directorate of Archeaology, Gujrat has the custody of the idols. INDIA HONOURS SAHU SHRIYANS PRASAD JAIN WITH PADMA BHUSHAN AWARD Delhi.Sahu Shriyans Prasad Jain, industrialist, philanthrophist, once Rajya Sabha member and an outstanding Jain leaders of India, was honoured by India with the Award of Padma Bhushan on the Republic day celebrations '88. Mr Jain has served and still is serving the Nation and the Jain communities in various capacities. He has constructively devoted time and efforts to assist the Jain community of north America. Many dignatories, politicians and industrialists of India recently organised "Jain Soiree in Bombay to facilitate Sahu Shriyans at a huge gathering. Jain Digest and its editor take pride to salute Living Legend of Jaina community, Sahu Shriyans Prasad Jain. CHARRIOT CELEBRATIONS OF LORD PARSHVANATH & DIETY PADMAVATI HUMCHA, KARNATAK Humcha, KA. A week long Jain religious and cultural festivities, from 09 March to 14,1988, were organised at Humcha, a Jain piligrimage centre of India. The first day festivity began with flag hoisting followed by various pooja performings. Day-2 program was anointment, poojas and coronation to Lord Parshvanath and Deity Padmavati. Shanti Chakra Pooja, flower charriot procession and Dharma Sammelan were the highlights of the day-3. The next day program was pooja performings associated with charriot celebrations and Sahitya Sammelan. The concluding two days reached climax fervor of the festivities. The week long benefactors of the festivities are: Madan Cangawal of Gauhati, Assam, Mahavir B. Patil of Belguam, Karnataka, Sushildevi Jain Backliwal of Nagalad, and the Jain communities of Tamil Nadu and Kolhapur.
