________________ ઇષ્ટોપદેશ Whatever is inherent in a seed, Is sure to grow up in the field, So ignorance gropes in darker zones, And light leads to cherished home. 44 Superiority of a Devotee ૬૯ 24. A devotee of enlightened self, Conquers all the pains of flesh, He lets not in the vicious trends, And uproots what are seated deep. 45 25. When subject object are distinct, Separation surely severs their link, It does not touch devotee's lot, He is both the seeker and the sought. 46 While one who clings to earthly things, And claims the same as his own, He mourns and groans with sorrow's pangs, Deserted when he is left alone. 47 1 The Unreality of Worldly Life 26. Self is self and matter is matter, The twain can never meet in one, Their union rests on ego's whims, Baseless, flinsy and unreal. 48 When one is free from ego's whims, Free he is from matter too, So one should make his best efforts, To free himself from ego's rule. 49
