Jain of Varanasi, Prof. Dr. Madhu Sen of International Center of Jaina Studies, Gujrat Vidyapith (who has revised it many times for its improvement), Dr. Jitubhai Shah, and Dr. A.K.Jain of ONGC, Ahmedabad. It has blessings from Padmabhusana Pt. Dalsukhbhai Malvania. The current glossary is, thus, a co-ordinated effort of many noted Jaina scholars. I am sure that it will be appreciated by the scholars and future authors. They will be doing great service by using this glosary in their original books and translations for their wider readesrhip However, I will feel highly obliged if suggestions for any improvement of this golssary are recieved from its users so that they may be incorporated in future.
The Jaina terms in this glossary have not been organised as per 1989 convention of 'Guide to pronunciction' in the Readers Digest Reverse Dictionary. They have been organised somewhat non-traditionally to facilitate dicriticalisation and to simplify finding terms in romanised alphabetical order It, thus, has seperate calegories of A (aa), S (sh) and Ş (which is not found in English) Despite care in orderring and dicriticalising, slips may be there requiring reader's sympathies alongwith printers devils
Despite the overall utility of the project, it has passed through rough weathers However, it is pleasing that Jain International is now finally publising it Dr Shekhar C Jain, Prof. of Hindi, C T. College. Ahrnedabad and a noted socio-religious activist has been given the responsibility of materialising this project He has taken great interest in the project from the very begining. It is highly encouraging for me that this glossary is seeing the daylight through Jain International I do hope that this publication will serve as a guiding factor and will be followed in the Jainological literature of the future.
Besides thanking all the above persons I am also thankful to Janak Javeri, Kalpesh Parikh, Abhinay, Caturbhuja Sahu for computerising its first drafts which made the base for publication must appreciate my family members who have always encouraged me to complete the project even under heavy odds.
My thanks are due to all the scholars who have helped, guided and made suggestions directly or indirectly in early completion of this project. I am also thankful to those authors who have given glossary in the end of their books which I have freely utilised in selection of terms in this glossary Lastly, I owe my thanks to the Jain International for approving my proposal and executing it through this small but important publication.
