It fills up a gap in the Literature on the history of Gujarat that has not taken adequate account of the unique contributions made by Jainism to the history and culture of Gujarat. This work dealing with a rich and glorious beritage preserved by Jainism in Gujarat will be very useful to students of Indian History, (Agian') I have read with great interest the comprehensive and well-documented narrative of the Jain contribution to the history and culture of Gujarat and Saurashtra written by Mr. Chimanlal B. Sheth in English. The writer has consulted all available literature which is extant in Sanskrit, Prakrit and Gujarati on the subject and he has tried his utmost to connect it with the relevant Persian literature on that period.
