VANDARU.
VRITTI.
1
In this volume are embodied 1. "Chaitya Vandan, 2. Guru-Vandan & 3. Pratikramana" so that the Jain Grihastha may make use of them in the performance of Pratikramana ceremony. Further the commentator draws herein the particular attention of the reader to the chapter "Paushadha Vidhi" of Paushadha Prakarana, written by Shree Jinvallabhasuri, an ancient priest, a personage not to be mistaken for Jinvallabhasuri of Khartergachha; the chapter "Dhammil-Hindi" of Vasudeo Hindi, a work in which the teachings of Lord Mahavir as handed down by oral tradition from disciple to disciple are embodied by Purvadharas, also comes in for special insistence, the former for 'PaushadhaVidhi' and the latter for 'Pratyâkhyân'. No precise date can be assigned as the time when this commentary was written. Yet it can be said from external evidence that it was written in the time of Vastupal, the minister of Rânâ Veer-Dhaval, the King of Gujrât, who held the commentator in great
reverence.
This writer has, besides this work and the two other commentaries above referred to, written several other commentaries and works, one of them being "Dharmaratna Vritti". We hope to bring out his other works in course of time.
