[2, 9-9, 176] Description of the Gati (Destinies) of Humans
[333] Those who go among the devas, go to the Bhavana-vāsī, Vāna-vyantara, and Jyotiṣī devas. || 168 ||
Humans with Samyag-mithyātva (mixed right and wrong faith) and with an Asaṃkhyāta-vāsāyuṣka (innumerable years of lifespan) do not die as humans. || 169 ||
Humans with Samyag-dṛṣṭi (right faith) and with an Asaṃkhyāta-vāsāyuṣka, after dying as humans, go to how many gatis (destinies)? || 170 ||
They go to only one deva-gati (destiny of devas). || 171 ||
Those who go among the devas, go to the Saudharma and Īśāna Kalpa-vāsī devas. || 172 ||
Devas with Mithyā-dṛṣṭi (wrong faith) and Sāsādana-samyag-dṛṣṭi (partially right faith), after being born and dying among the devas, to how many gatis do they come? || 173 ||
They come to two gatis: the Tiryañc-gati (animal destiny) and the Manuṣya-gati (human destiny). || 174 ||
When they come to the Tiryañc-gati, they come to the Ekendriya (one-sensed) and Pañcendriya (five-sensed) Tiryañcs, not to the Vikalendriya (imperfect-sensed) Tiryañcs. || 175 ||
In the Ekendriya, they come to the Bādara (gross) Pṛthivī-kāyika (earth-bodied), Bādara Āpu-kāyika (water-bodied), and Bādara Vanaspati-kāyika (plant-bodied) Pratyeka-śarīra-paryāpta (individual-bodied complete) beings, not to the Aparyāpta (incomplete) ones. || 176 ||
