SUBSTANCE INDEPENDENCY (at fald ) IN SAMAYASARA
-Dr. Dileep Dhing The Jaina tradition comprises of two basic Dravyas – Jiva and Ajiva. The classification of Ajiva in five kinds, makes the number of Dravyas as Six. Each and every Dravya is self independent may be it Jiva or Ajiva or any sub-division of Ajiva. The independency of the objects is described through various yuktis in Samayasara. Acarya Kundakunda has enlightened various factors, based on independency of the objects, Atma-Anatma, Svasamaya-Parasamaya, NishcayaVavahara, Nimitta-Upadana, Karta-Bhokta, Akarta-Abhokta, Navatattva, Triratna (Jnana, Darshana, Caritra) etc. Before understanding the actual gist of the Samayasara it is essential to understand the Principle of the independency of the object. The mundane world comprises of six Dravyas – Dharmastikaya, Adharmastikaya, Akashastikaya, Jivastikaya, Pudgalastikaya and Kala,. All the Dravyas lie along with their own nature. It has been said in the Samayasara that I am the Soul with Upayoga Guna and is not in any manner related to the Dravyas and Para-Dravyas -
