NAYA KARANIKA
(A PRIMER OF. JAIN LOGIC ) Naya-karnika means Naya and its Karnika. Naya means a standpoint or an aspect of viewing a thing from, that standpoint or aspect. Karnika means a pericarp, or the central point of a flower. A thing which is to be viewed with different aspects is the pericarp or the central point and the various standpoints, from which it is viewed, from varidus petals surrounding the pericarp. Thus the title · Naya Karnika' is fully borne out by what is said in the work; the title is not irrelevant. Taken as a whole Naya-Kanika means a flowek which has for its pericarp or ce point the thing to be viewed; and for its petals the various standpoints from which it ( the thing is viewed.
BENEDICTION AND SUBJECT वर्धमानं स्तुमः सर्वनयनद्यर्णवागमम् ।
