There is one more thing which appears to go against the adoption of this tardy method and it is this: In the conflicting elements working from time to time we have to adopt one or the other of them to the utter confusion of our moral perception of the same. But this obstruction is more apparent than real. A sagacious mind imbued with long foresight can work out the method very properly, rightly and keenly to the concious satisfaction of his partial contribution towards the goal of assimilation without disturbing equilibrium. Now there are several modes of marking out a particular thing and a prudent man can work out the same on the lines of wisdom. It rests with every endowed brain to find out his own ways of working but every educated Jain should work out something towards the attainment of this goal. None should give up the task as hopeless or a chimera, because the present tendency of the Indians is rather towards assimilation than towards separation. Mahomedans may be divided for the time being to the temporary advantage of the ruling class but the wisest amongst Mohamedans assure us that the present movement will rather expedite the assimilation in a very near future. It is out of place to devolve on this phase of our national life but one must learn the grand principle underlying the whole political movement of the last 10 years. It tells us to assimilate, to combine, to co-operate to work shoulder to shoulder, and that is our duty to learn if we are gifted with any foresight. As I have placed the question of assimilation on the sorbid ground of our existence it is worth considering, worth discussion at the hands of some of my friends who differ from me on that question. I do not and cannot question their motives for the same as they should be presumed to be innocent and pure until contrary is shown and in this particular case we can safely take for granted
