We have to recognize the fact that the world today has access to many sources of spiritual guidance which have never been ecclesiastically sanctioned, but which are none the less resorted to for that reason. While there has been a falling off in Church attendance, there has been an increase in the spiritual hunger of mankind, due mainly to the deepened interest in the universe which science has created.
The destiny of the Church is to become the great finishing school in the education of humanity. A minister of religion must become the friend of knowledge in all its kinds and not in one kind only; a change not difficult to make when we realise that all knowledge, whether of God man or the universe is essentially one.

અંધારામાં લોટવા હું ભૂલી પડી તું કયાંય ? ૮
માટીના હ્યાં માનવીને મારી સંગ વિહાર, જગનાં જૂઠાં લોકડાં તે જાણે નહિં તુજ ભૂલ,
જીવન માં લગ મન્થન કરીયે કર્મ' થકી અણજાણ. ૯ સાગર કેરી દીકરી જે સાગર જેવું ઉર. ૩
ખદબદતા ઉભરાયે જીવો જીવન એ અમ નાશ ! જગસરાનાં પાણીડાં ખૂટયાં દીઠાં ઝાંઝવાં નીર,
અર્થ સરે શું જીવનથી આ ? જીવન એ ઉપવાસ. ૧૦ તાતની વાટયે જાવા ઉડી તરસી મૃત્યુ તીર. ૪
પુણ્યજ હારૂં મુખ નિહાળું હળવું થાયે ઉર, ઉર વલોવી માવડી પાયે સાચું પ્રેમલનીર,
ઉર ભરાઈ આવે હેની ! પણ ન રહે તલપૂર. ૧૧ પ્યાસ છીપી ને ઝળકી કાયા આવ્યો હંસલી જીવ. ૫
