મનનું સમાધાન કરાવ્યું છે. રામે લોકોને લીધે જ સીતાને ત્યાગ કર્યો છે. રામ પિતે તે સીતાત્યારથી અત્યંત દુખી છે. સીતાના સ્મરણથી દીર્ય ગુમાવી બેઠેલા રામને દૌર્ય ધારણ કરવા વિનવવામાં આવે છે ત્યારે કહે છે કે દેવી વગર રામે બાર વર્ષ જીવન ધારણ કરી રાખ્યું;
જ્યારે સીતાનું તે આજે નામ પણ નષ્ટ થયું છે. ૧૬ રામનું દુઃખ જોઈ સીતા પિતાનું દુઃખ વિસરી જાય છે. રામે અશ્વમેધ યજ્ઞમાં સહધર્મચારિણી તરીકે સીતાની સુવર્ણપ્રતિમા બેસાડી છે એમ જાણ્યું ત્યારે સીતા બેલી પડે છે કે “હવે તમે આર્યપુત્ર ખરા. આર્યપુત્રે મારા પરિત્યાગરૂપ લજજાના શલ્યને હવે ઉખાડી નાંખ્યું. ૧૭
બંને નાયકોના સ્થિર પ્રેમની ખાત્રી થઈ પણ તેઓ નાયિકાઓને તે મૃત્યુ પામેલી માને છે. પ્રેક્ષકો અને વાચકોને ખબર છે કે બંને જીવિત છે. આ પ્રકારના કલાત્મક સંવિધાન માટે બંને નાટયકારોએ નાટયવક્રોક્તિને આશ્રય લીધે છે. નાટકના કથાનકના વિકાસ માટે હવે આવશ્યકતા છે. નાયિકાઓના જીવંતપણાની નાયકને જાણ થવી અને ત્યાર બાદ તેમની પ્રાપ્તિની ઝંખના થવી. આ સમસ્યાને ઉકેલ પણ બંને નાટકમાં સમાન રીતે લાવવામાં આવ્યો છે. બંને નાયકોને નાયિકાઓના સ્પર્શના અનુભવથી નાયિકાઓ જીવંત છે તે ભાસ થાય છે. બંને નાયકો તેમની પ્રાપ્તિ માટે ઉત્કંઠિત બને છે. એસ. એ. ડાંગે પિતાના લેખમાં નિરૂપે છે,
"It is clear that Bhavbhuti closely follows Bhäsa as did Kālidāsa. It will presently seen that Bhavabhūti, seems to borrow not anly this idea of the incognito heroine but also develops the fact of the lives of Act V of the Bhāsa-play-the noted act of the Dream'. The touch of Sitā bringing up Rāma to consciousness reminds as of Vasavadattā touching the hand of the sleeping Udayana and trying to place it on the bed. Väsavadatta and Sitä are in similar situation. Both want to conceal their presence from the hero ; and hence, when he gets up, try to slip away in haste. In both the cases the hero, coming to reality and getting dejected at the void, believes that it was only a state of dream. ”૧૮
સ્વપ્નદશ્યથી વાસવદત્તા જીવિત છે એ ખ્યાલ તેને આવી જાય છે. સ્વપ્ન પછીની તેની ઉક્તિઓ તેને સ્પષ્ટ નિર્દેશ આપે છે. ૯ શાલ લેવા ગયેલ વિદૂષક પરત આવે છે ત્યારે ઉદયન તેને કહે છે, “મિત્ર એક ખુશખબર જણાવું. વાસવદત્તા જીવિત છે.”૨૦
