Thanks Giving holiday in north America is a great holiday observed during the Fail. In Canada, it falls in October and in the US, it falls in November.
The Jain center of Cincinnati, on this day, made a call to the Jain communities across north America to transform Thanks Giving into Ahimsa day with a program of activities such as prayers, Arihanta pooja, serving of vegetarian meals to the homeless and the necdy, and vegetarian Mela - both exhibitive and educational.
"This Ahimsa Day,a new Jain Event in north America, will give a realistic newer dimension to the strengths of the Jain communities here, "observes Dr Sulekh Jain, President of the center and further adds, "that Jains in north America can be the Torch Bearers for tommorrow's strength and growth."
JAIN BHAVAN OF LA PROGRESS REPORT
Anaheim, CA. Since last reported in November 1986, the construction of Jain Bhavan of the Jain center of So California is well underway as planned. The construction activity on the site at 8072 Commonwealth Ave, Bueno Park city started on 1 July 1987. The foundation slab and framing to the roof elevation was completed in the second week of September and by end of the month roofing was finished. The electrical and plumbung work was completed in October.
The realisation of the Bhavan and the construction have taken a progressive shape, and the sight of it is impressive. Indeed it will, in this part of America, be the legacy of Jain religion and its cultural heritage for now and time to come. The center encourages individuals o support the project through donation pledges payable in installments, and by becoming a life member at a cost of $251.00. The completion of the project is scheduled for December 1987.
SRIMAD RAJCHANDRA BIRTH DAY CELEBRATED
Toronto. The birth day of Srimad Rajchandra, highly respected Jain theologian, spiritualist and a scholar from Gujrat, was organised on Saturday November 7,1987 at the Jain temple on Parklawn Road. The program consisted of a variety of events to reflect the occasion. The function was organised by Surendra Parikh and Raman Patel.
