Yoga and destroys the knowledge obscuring and other destructive Karmas. There upon enlightenment, infinite knowledge, infinite vision dawns upon the Sādhaka and he becomes an omniscient who knows and sees everything related to all three times. In other words he becomes an Arihanta ie a Jivanmukta. He then preaches the Dharma and the path of Sādhanā to all creatures. When his Ayusa ie. age determining karma is exhausted, he becomes a Siddha and departs from the body to the abode of the Siddhas. Thus in Jaina tradition each person builds or makes his own life and the instruments for making one's life are Samvara and Nirjarā, Samvara is the stoppage of the inflow of karma and Nirjară is the annihilation of the already accumulated stock of karmas. It is to be noted here that the 20 channels of Aśrava i.e. inflow of karma are the same channels of Saṁvara. This indeed is the quintessence of JainaSādhanä. It has also been said,
äravo bandha hetusyāt saṁvaro moksa kāraṇam / itīyam ārahati dịșți anyat sarva prapancanar //
i.e. Aśrava is the cause of all bondage, (and this inflow of karma is the cause of all sorrow and misery) averse to this Saṁvara is the sole cause of liberation, and supreme bliss. This in nutshell is the essence of Jaina faith and all the rest are but an elaboration of the above.
There is plenty of room for any and every kind of Sādhaka, in the path of Lord Mahāvīra. One who fails to acknowledge these two tattvas is not a true Sādhaka, and it is only for a good mind that it will be a good find. In other words, what is actually required is an unmoving and powerful attraction towards the divine dwelling in each one of us. This affinity can be developed by service to Deva Guru & Dharma, expiation, humility, study of Scriptures, meditation and Kāyotsarga.
The three stages of Ataman viz Bahirātman, Antarātman and Paramātman also illustrate the process of Sadhana. There is a famous saying of the west which goes like this - "If you desire to be God, you first have to be good". ie. if you desire to become a Paramātman
