________________ (81) (c) Hindi translation :— सांसारिक बन्धनों के आश्रित मनुष्य आचार्य का अनुसरण करते हैं और भौतिकता से विमुक्त मनुष्य भी आचार्य का अनुसरण करते हैं । 10 (d) English translation :— Some bound (by worldly ties ) are followers (i. e. understand the truth). Some, who are not bound are followers. 11 In these references far is for Skt. far: or faal:, Hindi : आश्रित or बद्ध and English embodied and असिया is for Sanskrit अश्रिताः, असिता: Hindi मुक्त; English : not bound. It is clear that these are past passive forms of the roots or f which are used as nominative plural. But Pischel explains as optative forms of the root /अस् ( स्यात् and न स्यात् ). It is sure that the Prakrit text which Prof. Pischel consulted might have been other than what I have referred to. No matter whatever may be the edition of the text but the context remains the same. Therefore, I feel that Prof. Pischel has been misled in explaining these two nominal forms as optative verbal forms. Whether, we may rely or not on the text edited by other scholars, the text of Shubring, a renowned authority on the subject is as follows:--- gat-faur, gar-arfer It means these two words are in the nominal 10. Ayaro (Muni Nathmalji ). 11. SBE. (Prof. H. Jacobi ) Vol-XXII, Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
