[१५१ फतेहचंदनीकी खिदमतसे बहुत प्रसन्न हुई और उनको दो पत्र प्रदान किये । ये पत्र एजन्ट साहिब व जनरल साहिबने शाहजी को भेट किये थे। उनकी नकल यहां दी जाती है।
I have much pleasure in stating that during the time Sah Fatehohand was with my camp as Mootimid or confidential agent of H. H. the Maharaja of Bikaner, he did ovory thing in his power to aid me and to carry out my instructions as far as he was able with the Bikaner troopis under his command.

Sahji Fatehchand Surana lias served with me in command of Bikaner troops with Harrianal Field Force for some month There never was the slightest difficulty with me. He has much influence over the Thakars and their men and juvariably exerted that influence aright. ___Rajputana. इन पत्रों से आपके धवलचरित्र पर काफो झांकी पड़ती है। जब बलवा शांत हो गया तो शाह फतेहचंदजी, उदयचंदजी सुराणाके साथ बीकानेर आये । श्रीजीसाहिब बहादुरने आपकी खिदमत अच्छी समझकर विक्रमसर, गोठां और भानगढ़ नामक तीन गांव आपको बक्ष और दोनोंको पैर में सोनेका कड़ा बक्षा ।
वि. सं. १९२३ (ई. सं. १८६७) में महाराजा सरदारसिंहजी आपकी वीरता, बुद्धिमत्ता और राजनीतिज्ञताको देख कर बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और आपको दीवान के उच्च पद पर सुशोभित किया।
महाराना सरदारसिंहजीके समयम स्टेट पर बहुत कर्जा चढ़ा हुआ था। इसके दो कारण थे, एक तो फौज ज्यादा रखना, जो सरकारका हुक्म था, दूसरा गैरसाली होने की वजह से स्टेट को पैसेकी काफी आमदनी नहीं होती थी। यों तो महाराजा सूरतसिंहजीके समय से ही स्टेट पर कर्जा चढ़ा आ रहा था । महाराजा साहिबकी नीति आगे कोई भी दीवान स्थायी रूपसे नहीं टिक सकता था । रामलाल द्वारकानी जैसे योग्य दीवान भी ८ वर्षसे ज्यादा नहीं टिक सके । आपके राज्यकालमें करीब १८ दीवान बदले । जो दीवान राज्य के कर्जको उतारनेमें नाकामयाब होता उसको उसी काल
