VARIANTS FROM VENISAMHARA AND...
In this verse, no variant is seen in either any edition of the Veni or in the different commentaries on the K. P., excepting संकेत (सो.) edn. p.II (p. 91) which has संधि for संधि mentioned in the ft. note (p. I p. 8). (5) मन्थायस्तार्णवाम्भः प्लुत कुहरचलन्मन्दरध्वानधीरः
कोणाघातेषु गर्जत्प्रलयघनघटान्योन्यसंघट्टचण्डः । कृष्णाक्रोधाग्रदूतः कुरुकुलनिधनोत्पातनिर्घातवात:
केनास्मत्सिहनादप्रतिरसितसखो दुन्दुभिस्ताडितोऽयम् ॥ १.२२ This verse has many variants such as - मन्थायस्तार्णवाम्भ:All editions of the Veni have this reading, while the N. S. Edn. of the Veni (p. 26) has मन्थायस्तार्णवार्णः in the ft. note. The different commentaries on the K. P. have also मन्थायस्तार्णवार्णः प्लुत.All editions of the Veni have प्लुत. while N. S. Edn. has प्लुत. with प्लुति. in the ft. note. The different commentaries on the K. P. have equally preferred both of them. Jha. Edn. (p. 487-88), R. P. Edn. (p. 499), प्रयाग Edn. (p. 330), सा. दी. edn. p. II (p. 225), विवेक edn. (p. 286), विस्ता. edn. p.II (p. 138 have प्लुत, while प्र. & उ. edn. (p. 402), सुधा edn. (p. 498), सा. चू. & सं. प्र. edn (p. 195), संकेत (मा.) edn. (p. 237) & संकेत (सो.) edn. p. II (p. 211) have प्लुति for प्लुत. Jha. edn. (p. 488) has also noted the other reading -प्लुति in the commentary - प्लुतीति पाठे मन्थो मन्थनं...इत्यर्थो बोध्यः । प्रतुकुह. is also noted as a variant by संकेत (सो.) edn. (p. 211) in the ft. note (p. 17). चलन् N. S. edn. of the Veni (p. 26) has चलन् with वलन् in the ft. note. chau edn. (p. 34-35), Gaj, edn. (p. 19) & Des. edn. (p. 21) have preferred चलन्, while Poona edn. (p. 10), & Madras edn. (p. 23) (p. 6 B) have accepted वलन्. Most of the commentaries on the K. P. have चलन्, but R. P. edn. (p. 499), सा. चू. & सं. प्र. edn. (p. 195), विवेक edn. (p. 286) & संकेत (सो.) edn. p. II (p. 211) have वलन् for चलन्. The last one, i.e. संकेत (सो.) reads चलन् in the ft. note (p. I, p. 17), while. प्र. & उ. edn. (p. 402) & संकेत (मा.) edn. (p. 195) have mentioned गलन्, रणन् & वलन् for चलन् in the ft. note.
