Eachofthefirsttena reashadone Tirthankaraatthattimemakingten Tirthankarasinall. Ontopofthis,duringthatsameperiod, therewere onehundredandsixty TirthankarasinthecentralMahavidehakshetra. Thusaltogethertherewereonehundredandseventy Tirthankaras, whichisamaximumpossiblen umberofliving Tirthankarasatanygiventime. Thisrecitation, the Tijayapahuttastotra, hasbeencomposedkeepingthisbeliefinmind. Thepoetrecognisesthattherewasatimewhenthisp henomenonofthemaximumnumberofTirthankaraslivingsimultaneouslyoccurred. Thepoet'celebrates thisphe nomenonbycomposingthestotra. Nowthestyleofcompositioniscertainlydifferent. Thepoethereshowshowtocreateayantraandworshipit. Themagicalnumberonehundredandseventyisbrokendowninacertainmannerandvariousnumbershavebeenp lacedinthesquaresoftheyantra.Whenyouaddthenumbershorizontally,verticallyordiagonallyitaddsuptoonehu ndredandseventy.Themethodofplacingnumberstogetherwithplacing differentmantraseedsintheyantraisexplained in the translation of the smarana. 2/4.1 Original Sutra तिजय-पहुत्त-पयासय, अट्ठ-महापाडिहेर-जुत्ताणं; समयक्खित्त-ठिआणं, सरेमिचक्कं-जिणिदाणं पणवीसा य असीआ, पनरस पन्नास जिणवर समूहो; नासेउ सयल-दुरिअं, भविआणं भत्ति-जुत्ताणं ..... वीसा पणयाला विय, तीसा पन्नत्तरी जिणवरिंदा; गहभूअरक्खसाइणी-घोरुवसग्गं पणासंतु. सत्तरि पणतीसा वि य, सट्ठी पंचेव जिणगणो एसो; वाहिजलजलणहरिकरि-चोरारिमहाभयं हरउ. पणपन्ना य दसेव य, पन्नट्ठी तह य चेव चालीसा; रक्खंतु मे सरीरं, देवासुर-पणमिया सिद्धा. ॐ हरहुंहः सरसुंसः, हरहुंहः तह य चेव सरसुंसः; आलिहियनामगब्भं, चक्कं किर सव्वओभदं. ॐ रोहिणी पन्नत्ती, वज्जसिंखला तह य वज्जअंकुसिआ; चक्केसरी नरदत्ता, कालि महाकालि तह गोरी. .... गंधारी महजाला, माणवि वइरुट्ट तहय अच्छुत्ता; Page 2 of 6
