________________
sion of the chapter Shri Muniji says that in the writings of the Acāryas of the Digamabara and Svetāmbara tradition we find academic excellance, lofty thoughts and synoptic view of life. The study of the canonical literature is not only necessary but it is an imperative for the development of the spiritual life of man Shri Muniji hopes that in this world where material values are dominant and when we have lost sight of the spiritual, if his book promotes interest in the study and understanding of the Agamas of the Jainas, his efforts in writing the book would be more than recompensed. .
The seventh chapter is a significant addition which is very useful for the study of Jaina sacred literature. He has given extensive quotations from the sacred texts with their Hindi translation. Students of literature and philosophy would find the quotations very useful and enlightening,
He has also added the glossary of technical terms and the bibliography of books used, with the index of words.
The book entitled Jaina Agam Sahitya : Manan aur Mimāṁsa is a remarkable addition to the books on Jaina philosophy and literature. I do hope more of such books of sterling academic excellence will be forthcoming from the able pen of Shri Devendra Muniji Shastri. Praņāmas to Shri Muniji for this work.
