समय व्याख्या गाथा- ४३
एकस्यात्मनोऽनेकज्ञानत्वसमर्थनमेतत् ।
ण वियप्पदि णाणादो णाणी णाणाणि होति णेगाणि ।
तम्हा दु विस्सरूवं भणियं दवियत्ति णाणीहिं ।। ५३ ।। न विकल्प्यते ज्ञानात् ज्ञानी ज्ञानानि भवन्त्यनेकानि । तस्मात्तु विश्वरूपं भणितं द्रव्यमिति ज्ञानिभिः ।। ४३ ।।
न तावज्ज्ञानी ज्ञानात्पृथग्भवति, द्वयोरप्येकास्तित्वनिर्वृत्तत्वेनैकद्रव्यत्वात्, द्वयोरप्यभिन्नप्रदेशत्वेनैक क्षेत्रत्वात् द्वयोरप्येकसमयनिर्वृत्तत्वेनैककालत्वात् द्वयोरप्येकस्वभावत्वेनैक भावत्वात् । न चैवमुच्यमानेष्येकस्मिन्नात्मन्याभिनिबोधिकादीन्येनेकानि ज्ञानानि विरुध्यंन्त द्रव्यस्य विश्वरूपत्वात् । द्रव्यं हि सहक्रमप्रवृत्तानंन्तगुणपर्यायाधारतयानंतरूपत्वादेकमपि विश्वरूपमभिधीयत इति ।। ४३ ।।

अन्वयार्थ - ( ज्ञानात् ) ज्ञानसे ( ज्ञानी न विकल्प्यते ) ज्ञानीका ( आत्माका ) भेद नहीं किया जाता, ( ज्ञानानि अनेकानि भवंति ) तथापि ज्ञान अनेक हैं । ( तस्मात् तु ) इसीलिये तो (ज्ञानिभिः ) ज्ञानियोंने (द्रव्यं ) द्रव्यको (विश्वरूपम् इति भणितम् ) विश्वरूप ( अनेकरूप ) कहा है।
टीका - एक आत्मा अनेक ज्ञानात्मक होनेका यह समर्थन हैं ।
प्रथम तो ज्ञानी ( आत्मा ) ज्ञानसे पृथक् नहीं है क्योंकि दोनों एक अस्तित्व से रचित होनेसे दोनों को एकद्रव्यपना है, दोनोंके अभिन्न प्रदेश होनेसे दोनोंको एकक्षेत्रपना है दोनों एक समयमें रचे जाते होनेसे दोनोंको एककालपना है, दोनोंका एक स्वभाव होनेसे दोनोंको एकभावना है। किन्तु ऐसा कहा जाने पर भी, एक आत्मामें आभिनिबोधिक (मति ) आदि अनेक ज्ञान विरोध नहीं पाते, क्योंकि द्रव्य विश्वरूप ( अनेकरूप ) है । द्रव्य वास्तवमें सहवर्ती अनंत गुणों तथा क्रमवर्ती पर्यायोंका आधार होनेके कारण अनंतरूपवाला होनेसे, एक होने पर भी, विश्वरूप ( अनेक रूप ) कहा जाता है ||४३||

अथात्मनो ज्ञानादिगुणैः सह संज्ञालक्षणप्रयोजनादिभेदेपि निश्चयेन प्रदेशाभित्रत्वं मत्याद्यनेकज्ञानत्वं च व्यवस्थापयति सूत्रत्रयेण । ण त्रियप्पदिन विकल्पते न भिद्यते न पृथक् क्रियते । कोसौ । णाणी-ज्ञानी । कस्मात्सकाशात् । णाणादो-ज्ञानगुणात् । तर्हि ज्ञानमप्येकं भविष्यति ।
