७ प्रश्न : लोक का आधार क्या है ?
उत्तर कोधि वानवाय, निदा: स्य और अनुशतनय, ये तीन वातवलय लोक का आधार हैं। जैसे छाल वृक्ष को चारों ओर से घेरे रहती है, वैसे ही ये तीनों वातवलय चारों ओर से लोक को घेरे हुए हैं।
तीन तहों के सदृश सर्वप्रथम गोमूत्र के वर्ण वाला घनोदधि वातवलय है। उसके पश्चात् मूंग के वर्ण वाला घन वातवलय है और उसके पश्चात अनेक वर्ण वाला तनुवातवलय है। लोकाकाश के अधोभाग में, दोनों पार्श्व भागों में नीचे से एक राजू ऊँचाई पर्यन्त अर्थात् पंच स्थावर पर्यन्त, सातों नरकभूमियों (पृथ्वी) के और ईषतप्राग्भार नामक आठवीं पृथ्वी के नीचे तीनों वातवलय-प्रत्येक बीस-बीस हजार योजन मोटे हैं।
