५८. प्रश्न : नपुंसक वेद किसे कहते हैं ? उत्तर : जिसके उदय से स्त्री तथा पुरुष दोनों से रमने के भाव
हों उसे नपुंसक वेद कहते हैं।'
१. सर्वार्थसिद्धि (२/१२) में कहा है कि 'नसकवेदोदयात्तदुभयशक्तिविकत
नपुंसकम् अर्थात् नपुंसकवेद के उदय से जो दोनों शक्तियों (स्त्रीरूप व पुरुषरूप) से रहित है वह नपुंसक है।
जीवकांड में द्रव्य नपुंसक के लिए कहा है- नपुंसकवेद के उदय से तथा निर्माण नामकर्म के उदय से युक्त अंगोपांग नामकर्म के उदय से दोनों लिंगों से भिन्न शरीर वाला द्रव्य नपुंसक होता है। (गोजीगा० २७१ टीका, पृ० ४६३ भारतीय ज्ञानपीट) वहीं भाव नपुंसक के लिये लिखा है कि दाड़ी, मूंछ और स्तन आदि स्त्री और पुरुष के द्रव्य लिंगों (चिहनों) से रहेित; ईट पकाने के पजावे की आग के समान तीव्र काम-वेदना से पीड़ित तथा कलुषित चित उस जीव को परमागम में नपुंसक कहा है। उस जीव के स्त्री और पुरुष की अभिलाषा रूप तीव्र काम वेदना लक्षण वाला भाव नपुंसक वेद होता है। (गो० जी० गा० २७५ एवं धवल १/३४४ एवं प्रा. पं. सं. १/१०७)
