प्रश्न : वनस्पतिकाय के कितने भेद हैं ? उनका स्वरूप क्या है ?

उत्तर : वनस्पतिकाय के दो भेद हैं- (१) प्रत्येक और (२) साधारण । प्रत्येक वनस्पतिः जिसमें एक शरीर का स्वामी एक ही जीव होता है, उसे प्रत्येक वनस्पति कहते हैं। साधारण वनस्पतिः जिन जीवों का शरीर साधारण नामकर्म के उदय के कारण निगोद रूप होता है, जहाँ एक शरीर में अनन्तानन्त जीव रहते हैं और जिनका आहार, श्वासोच्छ्वास, जीवन तथा मरण समान होता है उन्हें साधारण वनस्पति कहते हैं। इनके बादर और सूक्ष्म की अपेक्षा दो भेद होते हैं। इतना विशेष है कि एक बादर निगोद शरीर में या एक सूक्ष्मनिगोद शरीर में साथ ही उत्पन्न होने वाले अनन्तानन्त साधारण जीव या तो पर्याप्तक ही होते हैं या अपर्याप्तक ही होते हैं किन्तु मिश्ररूप नहीं होते, क्योंकि उनके समान कर्मोदय का नियम है।

उत्तर : प्रत्येक वनस्पति के दो भेद हैं- ( १ ) सप्रतिष्ठित प्रत्येक और ( २ ) अप्रतिष्ठित प्रत्येक ।
