भोगभूमिज मनुष्य और तिर्यचों में प्रारम्भ के चार गुणस्थान होते हैं। नरकगति की अपर्याप्त (निवृत्यपर्याप्त) अवस्था में सासादन गुणस्थान नहीं होता है। किसी भी गति की निर्वृत्यपर्याप्त अवस्था में मिश्र गुणस्थान नहीं होता है। मनुष्य और तिर्यचों की लब्ध्यपर्याप्त अवस्था में मिथ्यात्व गुणस्थान ही होता है। इन्द्रियमार्गणा की अपेक्षा एकेन्द्रिय से लेकर असंज्ञी पंचेन्द्रिय पर्यन्त जीवों के एक मिथ्यात्व गुणस्थान ही होता है। संज्ञी पंचेन्द्रिय जीवों के चौदह गुणस्थान होते हैं। कायमार्गणा की अपेक्षा पाँच स्थादरकायिक जीवों में एक मिथ्यात्व गुणस्थान होता है तथा उसकायिक जीवों में सभी चौदह गुणस्थान होते हैं। योगमार्गणा की अपेक्षा योग सहित जीवों में तेरह गुणस्थान
