Sixth Karma Grantha
(2) Sāsādana Guṇasthāna
After describing the bondage (bandha) and other states of the first guṇasthāna, now the bondage and other states of the second guṇasthāna are being described as 'tiga satta duṃga'. This means that there are 3 bondage-states (bandhasthāna), 7 rise-states (udayasthāna), and 2 existence-states (sattāsthāna). Their explanation is as follows:
In the Sāsādana guṇasthāna, the 28th, 29th, and 30th prakṛtis are impure (maliṃ), which are called mānāmāna. Out of these, the 28 prakṛtic bondage-states (prakṛtika-bandhasthāna) are of two types - hell-gati-prāyogya and deva-gati-prāyogya. For the Sāsādana samyagdṛṣṭi jīvas, the bondage of hell-gati-prāyogya does not occur, but the bondage of deva-gati-prāyogya does occur. Its binders (bandhaka) are the adequate (paryāpta) infernal five-sensed beings (tiryañca-pañcendriya) and humans. Its āyu (lifespan) gets destroyed (bhanga).
Out of the 26 prakṛtic bondage-states, there are many sub-types, but out of them, the two sub-types that are bondable for the Sāsādana are - tiryañca-gati-prāyogya and manuṣya-gati-prāyogya. These two are bound by the one-sensed (ekendirya), defective-sensed (vikala-indriya), infernal five-sensed (tiryañca-pañcendriya), human, divine, and murderous (māraka) beings. Here, its total modifications (bheda) are 6400, because although the Sāsādana binds the 26 prakṛtis of tiryañca-gati-prāyogya or manuṣya-gati-prāyogya, they do not bind the prakṛtis of hunda-saṃsthāna and sevārtha-yojanam, as the bondage of these two prakṛtis occurs only in the mithyātva guṇasthāna. Thus, here the permutations and combinations of 5 saṃhanana, 5 saṃsthāna, auspicious and inauspicious vihāyogati-dvandva, stable-unstable dvandva, auspicious-inauspicious dvandva, handsome-ugly dvandva, melodious-discordant dvandva, respectable-disrespectable dvandva, and fame-infamy dvandva result in 3200 modifications. These 3200 modifications are both tiryañca-gati-prāyogya and manuṣya-gati-prāyogya. Thus, the total of both is 6400.
