गाथा - समस्त संसारी जीवों को नौ सौ पंचानवे उदयविकल्पों तथा उनहत्तर सौ इकहत्तर पदवृन्दों से मोहित जानना चाहिये ।
विशेषार्थ- पूर्व में मोहनीय कर्म के उदयस्थानों के भंगों और उन उदयस्थानों के अंगों की कहां कितनी चौडी होती हैं, यह गया है । अब इस गाया में उनकी कुल संख्या एवं उनके पदवृन्दों को स्पष्ट किया जा रहा है ।
प्रत्येक चौबीसी में चौबीस भंग होते हैं और पहले जो उदयस्थानों की चौबीसी बतलाई हैं, उनकी कुल संख्या इकतालीस है । अत: इकतालीस को चौबीस में गुणित करने पर कुल संख्या नौ सौ चौरासी प्राप्त होती है - ४१४२४ - १८४ । इस संख्या में एक प्रकृतिक उदयस्थान के भंग सम्मिलित नहीं हैं। वे भंग ग्यारह हैं। अतः उन ग्यारह् भंगों को मिलाने पर भंगों की कुल संख्या नौ सौ पंचानवें होती है। इन भंगों में से किसी-न-किसी एक भंग का उदय दसवें गुणस्थान तक के जीवों के अवश्य होता है। यहाँ दसवें सूक्ष्मसंपराय गुणस्थान तक के जीवों को ही ग्रहण करने का कारण यह है कि मोहनीय कर्म का उदय वहीं तक पाया जाता है । यद्यपि ग्यारहवें उपशान्तमोह गुणस्थानवर्ती जीव का जब स्व-स्थान से पतन होता है तब उसको भी मोहनीय कर्म का उदय हो जाता है, लेकिन कम-से-कम एक समय और अधिक से अधिक अन्तर्मुहूर्त के लिये मोहनीय कर्म का उदय न

**Meaning:** With these groups of words, one should know that there are ninety-seven thousand one hundred and seventy-one *vishelayas* (analyses).

**Verse:** All worldly beings should be known to be bewildered by nine hundred forty-nine *udayavikalpas* and ninety-seven thousand one hundred and seventy-one *padavrindas*.

**Special Meaning:** Previously, the breaking of the *udayasthanas* (arising places) of *mohaniya karma* (karma that causes delusion) and the extent of their parts was explained. Now, in this verse, their total number and their *padavrindas* are being clarified.
