और अनुपशान्त प्रकृति चाहिये । यद्यपि यह बात इस प्रकार स्पष्टतासेनहीं कही गई है परन्तु पञ्च० द्वा० ३की २५वीं गाया की टीका देखने से इस विषय में कुछ भी नहीं रहता, क्योंकि उसमें सूक्ष्मसंपरायचा रिक्को, जो दसवें गुणस्थान में ही होता है, क्षायोपशमिक कहा हैं ।

उपशमश्रेणिनाले आठवें, नौवें और दसवें गुणस्थान में चारित्रमोहनीय उपशमका आरम्भ या कुछ प्रकृतियों का उपशम होनेके कारण ओरशमिवारित्र जैसे पञ्चसंग्रह टीका माना गया है, वैसे ही क्षपकश्रेणिवाले आठ आदि तीनों गुणस्थानों में चारित्र मोहनीयके क्षयका आरम्भ या कुछ प्रकृतिका क्षय होने के कारण क्षायिकचारित्र माननेमें कोई विरोध नहीं दीख पड़ता ।
गोम्मटसारमें उपशमणिवाले आठवें आदि चारों गुणस्थान में चारित्र ओपशमिक ही माना है और क्षायोपशमिका स्पष्ट निषेध किया है इसी तरह क्षपकश्रेणिवाले चार गुणस्थानों में क्षायिक चारित्र ही मानकर क्षायोपशमिकका निषेध किया हैं । यह बात कर्मकाण्ड की ८४५ और ६४६वीं गाथाओं के देखनेसे स्पष्ट हो जाती है ।
