Gommatasara Karmakanda-617. The bondage and the arising of karmic matter (udaya) are like the omniscience (kevalajnana), but the distinction is that the sattva-sthana (state of existence) is also of the form of the 93 and other prakritis (types of karmic matter).
In the partial restraint (desasanyama), there are two prakritis (28 and others), in the arising of karmic matter (udayasthana) there are two prakritis (30 and others), and the four sattva-sthanas start from 93.
In the non-restraint (aviraman), the bondage and the arising of karmic matter are like the wrong knowledge (kumati), and the sattva-sthana is of the form of 93 and other prakritis.
The details of the bondage-arising-sattva-sthana relationship in the path of restraint (sanyama-marga) are as follows:
Bondage-sthana (place of bondage): 93-92-91-90, 80-79-78, and 77
Udaya-sthana (place of arising): 93-92-91, and 90
Sattva-sthana (state of existence):
- In samayika (periodic self-contemplation): 28-29, 25-27-28
- In chhedopashtapana (interruption of activities) and paribhava (suppression): 30-31, and 29-30
- In sukshmavirati (subtle restraint): 30 and 31
- In yathakyata (as per one's capacity): 20-21-26-27-28, 28-29-30-31
- In desasanyama (partial restraint): 28 and 29, 30 and 31
- In asanyama (non-restraint): 23-25-26-28-29, 21-24-25-26-27-28-29-30
