६५५३६ प्रतरांगुल में एक प्रतरांगुल को ग्रहण करके और संख्यात खंड करके उनमें से एक खंड को निकालकर शेष बहुखंड उसी में मिला देने पर संज्ञी जीवों का अवहार काल होता है । इसका जगत्तर में भाग देने पर संशी जीवों का प्रमाण प्राप्त होता है ।"

आहारक का स्वरूप
तद्देहवयणचित्ताणं ।
उदयावणसरी रोवयेण खोकम्मरगरगाणं गहणं आहारयं गाम ।। ६६४ ।। आहदि सरोराणं तिष्हं एयदरवग्गणाश्रो य । भासमरणार रिणयदं तम्हा श्राहारयो भरियो ।। ६६५ ।। ३
गाथार्थ शरीर नामकर्मोदय को प्राप्त जीव शरीर वचन मन के योग्य वर्गरणाओं को ग्रहण करता है, वह श्राहारक है ।। ६६४ । । औदारिक, वैकिमिक और आहारक इन तीन शरीरों में से किसी एक शरीर के योग्य वर्गणा को तथा भाषा व मन वर्गणाओं को जो जीव नियम से ग्रहण करता है वह आहारक कहा गया है ।। ६६५ ।।
विशेषार्थ-तीन शरीर और छह पर्याप्तियों के योग्य पुद्गलों के ग्रहण करने को बाहार कहते हैं । * श्रदारिकादि शरीर के योग्य पुद्गल पिण्ड के बाहर अर्थात् ग्रहण करने को आहार कहते हैं ।" आहार वर्गणा से तीन शरीर (मोदारिक, वैऋियिक और ग्राहारक शरीर) बनते हैं ।
शङ्का - जिन वर्गणाओं से आहारक शरीर का निर्माण होता है, क्या उन्हीं वर्गणात्रों से श्रदारिक शरीर और वैऋिथिक शरीर का निर्माण होता है ? यदि नहीं तो यह कहना कि आहार वर्गणा से तीन शरीर बनते हैं, कैसे घटित होता है ?
