को पूज्य गुरुवर्यश्री का पत्र आया- "आहारमार्गणा की टीका प्राप्त हुई। प्रायका श्रम प्रशंसनीय है, टीका बहुत सुन्दर है। उसी के आधार पर टीका लिखी जा रही है। मात्र लिखने का इंग बदलना पड़ा। अब मुझे कोई चिन्ता नहीं. यदि टीका अधूरी रही ता प्राप पूर्ण कर देंगे। अभी ७० गाथानों की टीका शेष है। स्वास्थ्य शिथिल है, अतः गति मन्थर है। इसके पश्चात १४.११.८० का आपने मुझे अन्तिम पत्र लिखा। दि. २६.११.८० तक श्राप टीका लिखते रहे थे। ता. २८.११.८० सायं ७ बजे आपने देह-विसर्जन किया ।
शेष टीका मुझ पामर पुरुष को लिखने का आदेश था, अतः मैंने सोत्साह सविनय शेष कार्य पूरा किया है ।
हा! अब वह करणानुयोग - प्रभाकर कहाँ ?
स्व० गुरुवर्यश्री को सानुवाद धवल-जयधवल-महाधवल के (कुल ३६ पुस्तकों के) :- १६३४१ पृष्ठ कण्ठाग्र थे। ऐसे पुरुष की 'समस्त जीवनी का ज्ञानसार' जीवनान्त में लिखी टोका में निक्षिप्त अवश्य हुपा है, अतः इस टोका की प्रमाणता में सन्देह का प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता । विशेष मूल्यांकन तो पाठकों की पीडियों करेंगी।
पूर्णीकृत टीका की वाचना भीण्डर में हुई। उस समय पूज्य अजिप्तसागराचार्य चातुर्मास-रत थे। संघ में पू० वर्धमानसागर जी, पुण्यसागर जी, प्रा० जिनमती जी, विशुद्धमती जी, शुभमती जी, तथा प्रशान्तमती जी भी थे । इन सात पुण्यात्माओं के चरणों में मैं भी बैठता था। इस तरह कुल ६ सरस्वती-पाराधकों के मध्य जीवकाण्ड टीका की वाचना प्रारम्भ हई थी। नित्य २-३ घण्टा वाचना होती थी। कुछ समय बाद प्रा० जिनमती जी व शुभमती जी वाचना में शामिल नहीं हो पाये, अतः हम ६ ही रहे थे । वाचना लगभग दो मास में पूरी हुई थी।
स्मरणोय है कि किसी ने भी गुरुवर्य श्री की टीका में अंश भर भी फेरफार नहीं किया है। मात्र जहां दूसरे ग्रन्थों के उद्धरणों का मूल से मिलान करते समय कुछ शब्द छूटे हुए पाये गये उन्हें पुरा किया है अथवा भाषात्मक परिष्कार किया गया है, अथवा नीचे टिप्पणों में हमने बहुत कुछ दिया है, अन्य कुछ भी नहीं किया गया।
प्राभार : 'गोम्मटसार जीयकाण्ड' की प्रस्तुत वृहत्काय भाषाटीका की रचना एवं प्रकाशनयोजना को मूर्त रूप प्रदान करने में अनेक महानुभावों का प्रचुर प्रोत्साहन एवं सौहार्दपूर्ण सहयोग मिला है। मैं उन सभी के प्रति अपनी हार्दिक कृतज्ञता ज्ञापित करता हूँ।
सर्वप्रथम इस ग्रन्थ के भाषाटीकाकार पूज्य गुरुजी स्व. पण्डित रतनचन्दजी मुख्तार की प्रतिभा और क्षमता का सविनय सादर पुण्य-स्मरण करता हूँ और उस पुनीत प्रात्मा के प्रति अपने श्रद्धासुमन समर्पित करता हूँ।

Only the style of writing had to be changed. Now I have no worries. If the commentary remains incomplete, I will complete it. There are still 70 gathas left to be commented on. My health is weak, hence the pace is slow. After that, you wrote me your last letter on 14.11.80. You were writing the commentary till 26.11.80. On 28.11.80 at 7 pm, you left your body.
The remaining commentary was entrusted to me, a humble man, to write, therefore, I have completed the remaining work with enthusiasm and humility.
Alas! Where is that Karananuyoga - Prabhakar now?
The late Guru Shri had 16341 pages of Sanuavad Dhaval-Jayadhaval-Maha Dhaval (a total of 36 books) at his fingertips. The 'essence of the entire life' of such a man must be contained in the commentary written at the end of his life, therefore, there is no question of doubt in the authenticity of this commentary. The special evaluation will be done by the readers.
The completed commentary was read in Bhindar. At that time, the revered Ajipta Sagaracharya was engaged in Chaturmas. In the Sangha, there were also the revered Vardhamana Sagarji, Punyasagarji, Pra. Jinmatiji, Vishuddhamatiji, Shubhamatiji, and Prashantmatiji. I also sat at the feet of these seven pious souls. Thus, the reading of the Jeevakanda commentary began in the presence of a total of 6 Saraswati-Paradhakas. The reading took place for 2-3 hours daily. After some time, Pra. Jinmatiji and Shubhamatiji could not participate in the reading, so we were only 6. The reading was completed in about two months.
It is noteworthy that no one has made even a single change in Guru Shri's commentary. Only where some words were found missing while comparing the quotations from other texts with the original, they have been filled in or linguistic refinement has been done, or we have given a lot in the footnotes, nothing else has been done.
Acknowledgement: Many great souls have given their abundant encouragement and cordial cooperation in giving a concrete form to the present plan of creation and publication of the voluminous language commentary of 'Gommatasar Jiyakanda'. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of them.
First of all, I respectfully remember the brilliance and ability of the language commentator of this text, the revered Guruji, the late Pandit Ratanchandji Mukhtar, and dedicate my tributes to that pious soul.
