आदिपुराणम् मागांश्चिरन्तनान् येऽत्र भोगभूमितिरोहितान् । कुर्वन्ति नूतनान् सन्तः सद्भिः पूज्यास्त एव हि॥५५॥ न चक्रेण न रत्नैश्च शेषैर्न निधिभिस्तथा । बलेन न षडङगेन नापि पुत्रैर्मया च न ॥५६॥ तदेतत् सार्वभौमत्वं जयेनैकेन केवलम् । सर्वत्र शौर्यकार्येषु तेनैव विजयो मम ॥५७॥ म्लेच्छराजान् विनिर्जित्य नाभिशैले यशोमयम् । मन्नाम स्थापितं तेन किमत्रान्प्रेन केनचित् ॥५॥ अर्ककीर्तिरकीर्ति मे कीर्तनीयामकीर्तिपु । आशशाङ्कमिहाकार्षीन्मषीमाषमलीमसाम् ॥५९॥ अमुना न्यायवत्मैव प्रावतीति न केवलम् । इह स्वयं च दण्ड्यानां प्रथमः परिकल्पितः ॥६॥ अभूदयशसो रूपं मत्प्रदीपादिवाञ्जनम् । नार्ककीर्तिरसौ स्पटमयशःकीर्तिरेव हि ॥६१॥ जय एव मदादेशादी शोऽन्यायवर्तिनः । समीकुर्यात्ततस्तन स साधु दमितो युधि ॥६२॥ सदोषो यदि निर्ग्राह्यो ज्येष्ठ पुत्रोऽपि भूभुजा । इति मार्गमहं तस्मिन्नद्य वर्तयितुं स्थितः ॥६३॥ अक्षिमाला किल प्रत्ता तस्मै कन्याऽवलेपिने'। भवभिरविचायतद विरूपकमनुष्टितम् ॥६॥ पुरस्कृत्येह तामेतां नीतः सोऽपि प्रतीक्ष्यताम् । सकलङ्कति किं मूर्तिः परिहतुं भवेद्विधोः ॥६५॥ उपेक्षितः सदोषोऽपि स्वपुत्रश्चक्रवर्तिना। इतीदमयशः स्थायि' व्यधायि तदकम्पनैः ॥६६॥ इति सन्तोप्य विश्वेशः सौमुख्यं सुमुखं नयन् । हित्वा ज्येष्ठं तुजं''तोक मकरोन्न्यायमौरसम्॥६॥
॥५३-५४।। इस युगमें भोगभूमिसे छिपे हुए प्राचीन मार्गोको जो नवीन कर देते हैं वे सत्पुरुष ही सज्जनों-द्वारा पूज्य माने जाते हैं । ५५ ।। मेरा यह प्रसिद्ध चक्रवर्तीपना न तो चक्ररत्नसे मिला है, न शेष अन्य रत्नोंसे मिला है, न निधियोंसे मिला है, न छह अंगोंवाली सेनासे मिला है, न पुत्रोंसे मिला है और न मुझसे ही मिला है, किन्तु केवल एक जयकुमारसे मिला है क्योंकि शूरवीरताके सभी कार्यों में मेरी जीत उसीसे हुई है ।। ५६-५७ ॥ म्लेच्छ राजाओंको जीतकर नाभि पर्वतपर मेरा कीर्तिमय नाम उसीने स्थापित किया था, इस विषयमें और किसीने क्या किया है ? ॥ ५८ ।। इस अर्ककोतिने तो अकीर्तियों में गिनने योग्य तथा स्थाही और उड़दके समान काली मेरी अकीति जबतक चन्द्रमा है तबतकके लिए संसार-भर में फैला दी ॥ ५९ ॥ इसने अन्यायका मार्ग चलाया है केवल इतना ही नहीं है । किन्तु संसारसे दण्ड देने योग्य लोगोंमें अपने आपको मुख्य बना लिया है ॥६०॥ जिस प्रकार दीपकसे काजल उत्पन्न होता है उसी प्रकार यह अकीर्तिरूप मुझसे उत्पन्न हुआ है, यह अर्ककीति नहीं है किन्तु साक्षात् अयशस्कीति है ॥ ६१ ॥ मेरी आज्ञासे जयकुमार ही अन्यायमें प्रवृत्ति करनेवाले इस प्रकारके लोगोंको दण्ड देता है इसलिए इसने युद्धमें जो उसे दण्ड दिया है वह अच्छा हो किया है ॥६२।। औरकी क्या बात ? यदि बड़ा पुत्र भी अपराधी हो तो राजाको उसे भी दण्ड देना चाहिए यह नीतिका मार्ग अर्ककोतिपर चलानेके लिए आज मैं तैयार बैठा हूँ ।। ६३ ॥ आप लोगोंने विचार किये बिना ही उस अभिमानीके लिए अक्षमाला नामकी कन्या दे दी यह बुरा किया है ।। ६४ ॥ अथवा उस प्रसिद्ध अक्षमाला कन्याकी भेंट देकर आपने उस अर्ककीतिको भी पूज्यता प्राप्त करा दी है सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि यह कलंकसहित है यह समझकर क्या चन्द्रमाकी मूर्ति छोड़ी जाती है ? ॥ ६५ ॥ परन्तु चक्रवर्तीने अपराध करनेपर भी अपने पुत्रकी उपेक्षा कर दी - उसे दण्ड नहीं दिया इस मेरे अपयशको महाराज अकम्पनने स्थायी बना दिया है ।। ६६ ॥ इस
