कल्पनादुष्टमिति 'स्वानिष्टसूचनम् । द्विपं प्रचोदयामास कुधेवा जयमात्मनः ॥ १९६ ॥ 'प्रतिवातसमुद्भूतपश्चाद्गतपताकिकाः । मन्दं मन्दं क्वणद्घण्टाः कुण्ठितस्वबलोत्सवाः ॥ २००॥ संशुदान निष्यन्दकरदीनाननश्रियः । निर्वाणालातनिर्भासनि. शेषास्त्र भराक्षमाः ॥ २०१ ॥ 'आधोरणैः कृतोत्सा है: ' कृच्छकृच्छ्रेण चोदिताः । आक्रन्दमिव कुर्वन्तः कुण्ठितैः कण्ठगर्जितैः ॥ २०२ ॥ भीतभीता "युधोऽन्यैश्च चिरशुभसूचिमिः । गजा गताजवाश्चेलुरचला इव जङ्गमाः ॥ २०३॥ मन्दमन्दं प्रकृत्यैव मन्दा युद्धमयान्मृगाः । जग्मुर्निर्हेतुकं मद्रास्तदा शुभसूचनम् ॥२०४॥ विजिगीषर्विपुण्यस्य वृथा प्रणिधयो यथा । तथाऽर्ककीर्तयन्नृणां " ते " गजेषु नियोजिताः ॥ २०५ ॥ लङ्घन्ने त्रयोदा पारिभद्रोद्गमच्छविम् । प्रकटभ्रुकुटी बन्धसंधानितशरासनः ॥ २०६॥ रिपुं कुपितभोगीन्द्रस्फुटाटोपभयंकरः । कुर्वन्विलोक नातप्ततीव्र नाराचगोचरम् ॥२०७॥ गिरीन्द्रशिखराकारमारुह्य हरिविक्रमः । गजेन्द्र विजयार्द्धाख्यं गर्जन्मेधस्वरस्तदा ॥ २०८ ॥

वंश और सोमवंशका छेदन करूँगा, विजयलक्ष्मी मुझे अभी वश कर सुखी करेगी, इस प्रकार अभिप्रायसे तथा अपना ही अनिष्ट सूचित करनेवाला वचन कहते हुए अर्ककीर्तिने क्रोधसे अपने पराजय के समान अपना हाथी आगे बढ़ाया ॥। १९६-१९९ ॥ प्रतिकूल वायु चलने से जिनकी ध्वजाएँ पीछे की ओर उड़ रही हैं, जिनके घण्टा धीरे-धीरे बज रहे हैं, जिन्होंने अपनी सेना के उत्सवको कुण्ठित कर दिया है, गण्डस्थलके मदका निष्यन्द सूख जानेसे जिनके मुखकी शोभा मलिन हो गयी है, जिनकी शोभा बुझे हुए अलातचक्र के समान है, जो सम्पूर्ण शस्त्रोंका भार धारण करने में असमर्थ है, उत्साह दिलाते हुए महावत जिन्हें बड़ी कठिनाईसे ले जा रहे हैं, जो कुण्ठित हुई कण्ठकी गर्जनासे मानो रुदन ही कर रहे हैं, जो युद्ध से तथा अशुभको सूचित करनेवाले अन्य अनेक चिह्नोंसे अत्यन्त भयभीत हो रहे हैं और जिनका वेग नष्ट हो गया है ऐसे हाथी चलते फिरते पर्वतोंके समान चल रहे थे ||२०० - २०३ || मन्द जातिके स्वभाव ही मन्द मन्द चल रहे थे, मृग जातिके हाथी युद्धके भयसे धीरे-धीरे जा रहे थे और भद्र जातिके हाथी बिना ही कारण धीरे-धीरे चल रहे थे परन्तु युद्ध में उनका धीरे-धीरे चलना अशुभको सूचित करनेवाला था || २०४ || जिस प्रकार विजयकी इच्छा करनेवाले किन्तु पुण्यहीन मनुष्यके गुप्त सेवक व्यर्थ हो जाते हैं-- अपना काम करनेमें सफल नहीं हो पाते हैं उसी प्रकार अर्ककीर्ति के लिए उन हाथियोंसे कही हुई महावत लोगोंकी प्रार्थनाएँ व्यर्थ हो रही थीं ॥ २०५ ॥ उधर जो अपने दोनों नेत्रोंकी कान्तिसे कल्पवृक्षके फूलकी कान्तिको जीत रहा है, जिसने अपनी भौंहों की रचनाके समान ही प्रकटरूप से बाण चढ़े धनुषका आकार बनाया है, क्रोधित हुए महा सर्प के समान जिसका शरीर कुछ ऊपर उठा हुआ है और इसीलिए जो भयंकर है, जो अपने शत्रुको अपनी दृष्टि तथा तपे हुए बाणोंका निशाना बना रहा है, एवं सिंहके समान जिसका पराक्रम है ऐसा मेघस्वर जयकुमार उस समय गर्जता हुआ मेरुके शिखरके समान आकारवाले विजयार्ध नामके उत्तम हाथीपर सवार होकर, अनुकूल वायु चलने से
