सप्तविंशतितमं पर्व
विभर्ति हिमवानां शशाङ्ककरनिर्मलाम् । आ सिन्धोः प्रसृतां कीर्तिमिव स्वां लोकपावनीम् ॥ ११ ॥ वनराजीद्वयेनेयं विभाति तटवर्तिना । वाससोरिव युग्मेन विनीलेन कृतश्रिया ॥१२॥
ताश्रयिणीं धत्ते हंसमालां कलस्वनाम् । काञ्चीमिवेयमम्भोजरजः पिञ्जरविग्रहाम् ॥ १३ ॥ नदीसवरियं स्वच्छ मृणालशकलामलाः । संविभर्ति स्वसात्कृत्य सख्यं श्लाध्यं हि तादृशम् ॥१४॥ राजहंसैरियं सेव्या लक्ष्मीरिव विभाति ते । तन्वती जगतः प्रीतिमलङ्घयमहिमा परैः ॥ १५ ॥ वनवेद मियं धत्ते समुत्तुङ्गां हिरण्मयीम् । आज्ञांमिव तवालङ्कयां नभोमार्गविलङ्घिनीम् ॥ १६॥ इतः प्रसीद देवेमां शरलक्ष्मीं विलोकय । वनराजिषु संरूढां सरित्सु सरसीषु च ॥ १७ ॥ इमे सप्तच्छदाः पौष्पं विकिरन्ति रजोऽभितः । पटवासमिवामोदसंवासितहरिन्मुखम् ॥ १८॥

बाणैः कुसुमबाणस्य बाणैरिव विकासिभिः । हियते' कामिनां चेतो रम्यं हारि न कस्य वा ॥१९॥ विकसन्ति सरोजानि सरस्सु सममुत्पलैः । विकासिलोचनानीव वदनानि शरच्छ्रियः ॥ २० ॥ पङ्कजेषु विलीयन्ते भ्रमरा गन्धलोलुपाः । कामिनीमुखपद्मेषु कामुका इव काहला ः ' मनोजशरपुङ्खाब्जैः पक्षैर्मधुकरा इमे । विचरन्त्यब्जिनीषण्डे मकरन्दरसोत्सुकाः ॥२२॥

से अर्थात् हिमवान् पर्वतके ऊपरसे पृथिवीपर पड़ी है इसलिए इसे आकाशगंगा भी कहते हैं ।। १० ।। जो चन्द्रमाकी किरणोंके समान निर्मल है, समुद्र तक फैली हुई है और लोकको पवित्र करनेवाली है ऐसी इस गंगाको यह हिमवान् अपनी कीर्तिके समान धारण करता है ॥११॥ यह गंगा अपने तटवर्ती दोनों ओरके वनोंसे ऐसी सुशोभित हो रही है मानो इसने नीले रंगके दो वस्त्र ही धारण कर रखे हों ॥ १२ ॥ कमलोंके परागसे जिनका शरीर पीलापीला हो गया है और जो मनोहर शब्द कर रही हैं ऐसी हंसों की पंक्तियोंको यह नदी इस प्रकार धारण करती है मानो मन्द मन्द शब्द करती हुई सुवर्णमय करधनी ही धारण किये हो ॥ १३॥ यह नदी स्वच्छ मृणालके टुकड़ोंके समान निर्मल अन्य सखी स्वरूप सहायक नदियोंको अपनेमें मिलाकर धारण करती है सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि ऐसे पुरुषोंकी मित्रता ही प्रशंसनीय कहलाती है || १४ || अनेक राजहंस ( पक्ष में बड़े-बड़े राजा ) जिसकी सेवा करते हैं, जो संसारको प्रेमी उत्पन्न करनेवाली है, और जिसकी महिमा भी कोई उल्लंघन नहीं कर सकता ऐसी यह गंगा आपकी राजलक्ष्मीके समान सुशोभित हो रही है ||१५|| जो अत्यन्त ऊँची है, सोनेकी बनी हुई है, आकाश मार्गको उल्लंघन करनेवाली है और आपकी आज्ञा के समान जिसका कोई उल्लंघन नहीं कर सकता ऐसी वनवेदिकाको यह गंगा नदी धारण कर रही है ।। १६ ।। हे देव, प्रसन्न होइए और इधर वनपंक्तियों, नदियों और तालाबोंमें स्थान जमाये हुई शरदऋतुकी इस शोभाको निहारिए ।। १७ ।। ये सप्तपर्ण जातिके वृक्ष अपनी सुगन्धिसे समस्त दिशाओंको सुगन्धित करनेवाले सुगन्धिचूर्णके समान फूलोंकी परागको चारों ओर बिखेर रहे हैं || १८ | इधर कामदेवके बाणोंके समान फूले हुए बाण जातिके वृक्षों द्वारा कामी मनुष्योंका चित्त अपहृत किया जा रहा है सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि रमणीय वस्तु क्या अपहृत नहीं करती ? अथवा किसे मनोहर नहीं जान पड़ती ? ॥ १९ ॥ इधर तालाबों में नील कमलोंके साथ-साथ साधारण कमल भी विकसित हो रहे हैं और जो ऐसे जान पड़ते हैं मानो जिनमें नेत्र विकसित हो रहे हैं ऐसे शरदऋतुरूपी लक्ष्मी के मुख ही हों ||२०|| इधर ये कुछ-कुछ अव्यक्त शब्द करते हुए सुगन्धके लोभी भ्रमर कमलोंमें उस प्रकार निलीन हो रहे हैं जिस प्रकार कि चाटुकारी करते हुए कामी जन स्त्रियोंके मुखरूपी कमलोंमें निलीन - आसक्त होते हैं ॥ २१ ॥ जो मकरन्द रसका पान

This Himāvan (Himalayas) bears the Ganga, which is as pure as the rays of the moon, spreads as far as the ocean, and purifies the world, as its own fame. || 11 || This Ganga is adorned by the two forests on either side of its banks, as if it were wearing two blue garments. || 12 || This river bears a row of swans, whose bodies are yellowed by the pollen of lotuses, and who make sweet sounds, as if it were wearing a golden girdle that makes a soft sound. || 13 || This Ganga, pure as the particles of clean clay, bears other rivers, its companions, as if it were bearing friends, for such friendship is indeed praiseworthy. || 14 || This Ganga, served by many royal swans (great kings among birds), shines like your royal Lakshmi, who inspires love in the world, and whose glory cannot be surpassed. || 15 || This Ganga bears the Vana-vedikā, which is very high, made of gold, transcends the path of the sky, and cannot be violated, as if it were your command. || 16 || O God, be pleased and behold this autumnal beauty, which has established itself in the forests, rivers, and ponds. || 17 || These seven-leaved trees scatter the pollen of their flowers, which are fragrant and spread their fragrance in all directions, like fragrant powder. || 18 || Here, the trees of the Bāna species, which are blooming like the arrows of Kāmadeva, are captivating the hearts of amorous men. What is beautiful does not captivate? Or what is not pleasing to the eye? || 19 || Here, in the ponds, ordinary lotuses are blooming along with blue lotuses, and they look like the mouths of Lakshmi, the goddess of autumn, whose eyes are blooming. || 20 || Here, these bees, greedy for fragrance, are immersed in the lotuses, making a kind of indistinct sound, just as amorous men are immersed in the lotus-like mouths of women, making flattering speeches. || 21 || These bees, eager for the nectar, are moving about in the lotus-like nests, like arrows of desire, with their wings like lotus-like arrows. || 22 ||

That is, the Himāvan mountain is above the earth, and therefore it is also called the Milky Way. || 10 ||
