________________ . षोडश पर्व ३५५. इदं वपुर्वयश्चेदमिदं शीलमनीदृशम् । विद्यया चेद्विभूष्येत सफल जन्म 'वामिदम् ॥१७॥ विद्यावान् पुरुषो लोके संमतिं याति कोविदः । नारी च तद्वती धत्ते स्त्रीसृष्टेरग्रिमं पदम् ॥९॥ विद्या यशस्करी पुंसां विद्या श्रेयस्करी मता । सम्यगाराधिता विद्यादेवता कामदायिनी ॥९९।। विद्या कामदुहा धेनुर्विद्या चिन्तामणिर्नृणाम् । त्रिवर्गफलितां सूते विद्या संपत्परम्पराम् ॥५००॥ विद्या बन्धुश्च मित्रं च विद्या कल्याणकारकम् । सहयायि धनं विद्या विद्या सर्वार्थसाधनी ॥१०॥ "तद्विद्याग्रहणं यत्नं पुत्रिक कुरुतं पुवाम् । सत्संग्रहणकालोऽयं युवयोर्वर्ततेऽधुना ॥१०॥ इत्युक्त्वा मुहुराशास्य विस्तीर्णे हेम पट्टकं । अधिवास्य स्वचित्तस्थां श्रुतदेवीं सपर्यया ॥१०३॥ विभुः करद्वयनाभ्यां लिखनक्षरमालिकाम् । उपादिशल्लिपि संख्यास्थान चारनुक्रमात् ॥१०४॥ ततो भगवतो वक्त्रानिःसृतामक्षरावलीम् । सिद्धं नम इति व्यक्तमङ्गलां सिद्धमातृकाम् ॥१०५॥ अकारादिहकारान्तां शुद्धां मुक्तावलीमिव । स्वरम्यञ्जनभेदेन द्विधा भेदमुपयुषीम् ॥१०६॥ "अयोगवाहपर्यन्तां सर्वविद्यास संतताम्। संयोगाभरसंभूति नैकबीजाक्षरश्चिताम् ॥१०॥ १ . तुम दोनोंका यह शरीर, यह अवस्था और यह अनुपम शील यदि विद्यासे विभूषित किया जाये तो तुम दोनोंका यह जन्म सफल हो सकता है ।। ९७ ॥ इस लोकमें विद्यावान् पुरुष पण्डितोंके द्वारा भी सम्मानको प्राप्त होता है और विद्यावती स्त्री भी सर्वश्रेष्ठ पदको प्राप्त होती है ॥९८॥ विद्या ही मनुष्योंका यश करनेवाली है, विद्या ही पुरुषोंका कल्याण करनेवाली है, अच्छी तरहसे आराधना की गयी विद्या देवता ही सब मनोरथोंको पूर्ण करनेवाली है ।।१९।। विद्या मनुष्योंके मनोरथोंको पूर्ण करनेवाली कामधेन है. विद्या ही चिन्तामणि है, विद्या हो धर्म, अर्थ तथा काम रूप फलसे सहित सम्पढ़ाओंकी परम्परा उत्पन्न करती है ॥१००। विद्या ही मनुष्योंका बन्धु है, विद्या ही मित्र है, विद्या ही कल्याण करनेवाली है, विद्या ही साथ-साथ जानेवाला धन है और विद्या ही सब प्रयोजनोंको सिद्ध करनेवाली है ।। १०१।। इसलिए हे पुत्रियो, तुम दोनों विद्या ग्रहण करने में प्रयत्न करो क्योंकि तुम दोनोंके विद्या ग्रहण करनेका यही काल है ॥१०२।। भगवान् वृषभदेवने ऐसा कहकर तथा बार-बार उन्हें आशीर्वाद देकर अपने चित्तमें स्थित श्रुत देवताको आदरपूर्वक सुवर्णके विस्तृत पट्टेपर स्थापित किया, फिर दोनों हाथोंसे अ आ आदि वर्णमाला लिखकर उन्हें लिपि (लिखनेका ) उपदेश दिया और अनुक्रमसे इकाई दहाई आदि अंकोंके द्वारा उन्हें संख्याके ज्ञानका भी उपदेश दिया। भावार्थऐसी प्रसिद्धि है कि भगवान्ने दाहिने हाथसे वर्णमाला और बायें हाथसे संख्या लिखी थी॥ १०३-१०४ ॥ तदनन्तर जो भगवानके मुखसे निकली हुई है, जिसमें "सिद्धं नमः' इस प्रकारका मंगलाचरण अत्यन्त स्पष्ट है, जिसका नाम सिद्धमातृका है, जो स्वर और व्यंजनके भेदसे दो भेदोंको प्राप्त है, जो समस्त विद्याओंमें पायी जाती है, जिसमें अनेक संयुक्त अक्षरोंकी उत्पत्ति है, जो अनेक बीजाक्षरोंसे व्याप्त है और जो शुद्ध मोतियोंकी मालाके समान है ऐसी अकारको आदि लेकर हकार पर्यन्त तथा विसर्ग अनुस्वार जिह्वामूलीय और उपध्मानीय इन अयोगवाह पर्यन्त समस्त शुद्ध अक्षरावलोको बुद्धिमती ब्राह्मी पुत्रीने धारण १. युवयोः । २. संमानम् । ३. विद्यावती। ४. त्रिवर्गरूपेण फलिताम् । ५. तत्कारणात् । ६. कुर्वाथाम् । ७. सुवर्णकलके । ८. पूजया। ९. लिबि ट० । लिपिम् । “लिखिताक्षरविन्यासे लिपिलिबिरुभे स्त्रियौ।" इत्यमरः। १०. संख्याज्ञानं अ०, ५०, द०, स०, ल०। ११. हकारविसर्जनीयाः [अनुस्वारविसर्गजिह्वामूलीयोपध्मानीययमाः । १२. अविच्छिन्नाम् । संगताम अ०, प०, स०, म०,। १३. हल्ल्यू [इत्यादिभिः] ।
