आदिपुराणम् किं गौर्यसिदशैर्मुक्तो युक्ता में स्वर्गताधुना । नूनमित्यकखी न्मेरुः दिवं स्नानाम्बुनिझरैः ॥१४५॥ 'अहगीदखिलं व्योम ज्योतिश्चक्र समस्थगीत् । प्रोणवीन्मेरुमारुन्धन् क्षीरपूरः स रोदसी ॥१४६।। क्षणमक्षणनीयेषु वनेषु कृतविश्रमः । प्राप्तक्षण इवान्यत्र ब्याप सोऽम्मःप्लवः क्षणात् ।।१४७॥ तरुषण्डनिरुद्धत्वादन्तर्वणमनुल्वणः । वयवीथीरतीत्यारात्' प्रससार महाप्लवः ॥१४८॥ स बमासे पयःपूरः प्रसर्पमधिशैलराट्। सितैरिवांशुकैरेनं "स्थगयन् स्थगिताम्बरः ॥१४९॥ विष्वगद्रीन्द्र मूर्णित्वा[मूर्तृत्वा"]पयोऽर्णवजलप्लवः। प्रवहनवह' च्छायाँ स्वःस्रवन्ती पयःनुतेः।१५०॥
शब्दाद्वैतमिवातन्वन् कुर्वन् सृष्टिमिवाम्मयीम्। "विललास पयःपूरः प्रध्वनसिद्धकुक्षिषु ॥१५१॥ विश्वगाप्लावितो मेरुर प्प्लबैरामहीतलम् । अज्ञातपूर्वतां भेजे मनसाज्ञायिनामपि ॥१५२॥
जा रहा हो और कन्दराओंके द्वारा बाहर उगला जा रहा हो ॥१४४॥ उस समय मेरु पर्वतपर अभिषेक जलके जो झरने पड़ रहे थे उनसे ऐसा मालूम होता था मानो वह यह कहता हुआ स्वर्गको धिक्कार ही दे रहा हो कि अब स्वर्गक्या वस्तु है ? उसे तो देवोंने भी छोड़ दिया है । इस समय समस्त देव हमारे यहाँ आ गये हैं इसलिए हमें ही साक्षात् स्वर्ग मानना योग्य है ॥ १४५ ॥ उस जलके प्रवाहने समस्त आकाशको ढक लिया था, ज्योतिष्पटलको घेर लिया था, मेरु पर्वतको आच्छादित कर लिया था और पृथिवी तथा आकाशके अन्तरालको रोक लिया था॥१४६।। उस जलके प्रवाहने मेरु पर्वतके अच्छे वनोंमें क्षणभर विश्राम किया और फिर सन्तुष्ट हुए के समान वह दूसरे ही क्षणमें वहाँसे दूसरी जगह व्याप्त हो गया ॥१४७|| वह जलका बड़ा भारी प्रवाह वनके भीतर वृक्षोंके समूहसे रुक जानेके कारण धीरे-धीरे चलता था परन्तु ज्यों ही उसने वनके मार्गको पार किया त्यों ही वह शीघ्र ही दूर तक फैल गया॥१४८।। मेरु पर्वतपर फैलता और आकाशको आच्छादित करता हुआ वह जलका प्रवाह ऐसा सुशोभित हो रहा था मानो मेरु पर्वतको सफेद वस्त्रोंसे ढक ही रहा हो ॥१४९|| सब ओरसे मेरु,पर्वतको आच्छादित कर बहता हुआ वह क्षीरसागरके जलका प्रवाह आकाशगंगाके जलप्रवाहकी शोभा धारण कर रहा था॥१५०।। मेरु पर्वतकी गुफाओंमें शब्द करता हुआ वह जलका प्रवाह ऐसा मालूम होता था मानो शब्दाद्वैतका ही विस्तार कर रहा हो अथवा सारी सृष्टिको जलरूप ही सिद्ध कर रहा हो ।। भावार्थ-शब्दाद्वैतवादियोंका कहना है कि संसारमें शब्द ही शब्द है शब्दके सिवाय और कुछ भी नहीं है । उस समय सुमेरुकी गुफाओंमें पड़ता हुआ जलप्रवाह भी भारी शब्द कर रहा था इसलिए ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो शब्दाद्वैतवादका समर्थन ही कर रहा हो। ईश्वरसृष्टिवादियोंका कहना है कि यह समस्त सृष्टि पहले जलमयी थी, उसके बाद ही स्थल आदिकी रचना हुई है उस समय सब ओर जल-ही-जल दिखलाई पड़ रहा था इसलिए ऐसा मालूम होता था मानो वह सारी सृष्टिको जलमय ही सिद्ध करना चाहता हो ॥१५१।। वह मेरु पर्वत ऊपरसे लेकर नीचे पृथिवीतल तक सभी ओर जलप्रवाहसे तर होरहा था इसलिए प्रत्यक्ष ज्ञानी देवोंको भी अज्ञात पूर्व मालूम होताथा अर्थात् ऐसा जान पड़ता था
